I am referring to people who originally spoke a language different than English, say Spanish or Japanese or German. Accents can be hard for those whose second language is English. I speak Spanish but have a hard time understanding the Spanish from different Spanish-speaking countries. A Cuban will speak Spansish differently than an Argentinian and a Spaniard.
