Historia del pampapiano relatada por Jorge Nuñez del Prado para la revista TUPANAKUY/ Dic. 2005 Aparece en el siglo XVI, y vino al Perú por la necesidad de los evangelistas de cantar las misas -antes sólo eran rezadas- y con la llegada de este, se ponen soberbias. Entonces empezaron a difundirse misas en las alturas y se hizo popular. Con los años fue desplazado por el órgano, pero algún sacristán se compadeció de él y lo puso de pie. Se hizo tradicional en el Cusco, en San Sebastián y San Jerónimo no se concebían fiestas sino era con violín, arpa y pampapiano, era el delirio del pueblo que bailaba y comía a su modo. Proliferaba el villancico español, es así que autores -muchos anónimos- y feligresías conciben el villancico peruano tal como uno lo siente. Aprendí a tocarlo en mi pueblo (Paucartambo) a los 6 años y después me dediqué a entender el instrumento, a acercarme a él, finalmente dije por qué no componer siquiera un villancico para recordar que fui niño, ese que se escondía en los altares de la iglesia del pueblo y que luchaba para subir a la torre y jalar la campana para hacerla repicar de emoción. Yo pertenezco a esa época y he aprendido a tocarlo como me enseñaron, como los que me antecedieron. Parece un pianito más ¿no?, pero concibe en su historia el principio del desarrollo evangelizador de nuestros pueblos. colocaba en navidad un juguete bajo la almohada de su hijo y este esperaba el amanecer para ver qué era. La ilusión del niño y del joven han ido desapareciendo, hoy estamos en el vértigo de lo material, tal vez nos quieren volver robots, pero el hombre es también espíritu. Pediría que los grupos se reúnan para satisfacer su alegría, pero también para analizar el mensaje que estos pueblos nos dejaron, para irradiar una visión real de lo que significa el Perú y el día que llegue ese candor aprenderemos a querer más a nuestra patria.
