Description: If you just aren't getting along with Microsoft lately, I highly recommend trying Ubuntu Linux. The "Live CD" I demonstrate here runs ENTIRELY from the CD - it doesn't touch your hard drive - so if you don't like it, or it doesn't work with your wireless card or whatever - just take the CD out and reboot and you're back to where you were before you tried it. Cooooooool or what? :-) |

morfeene2 ::: Favorites Hmmmm.....when you boot, you should fairly quickly get a menu as you say....both options do the same thing at this stage - it should then whirr around for a while & you should get the desktop - brown with a menu bar along the top and a couple of icons on the desktop. If you don't get that, you're out of luck. If you do, then Ubuntu is running - best not to click the "install" icon until you've played with it for some time. Until you click the "install" icon, nothing will happen to your computer 07-10-20 01:26:30 __________________________________________________

morfeene2 ::: Favorites Try right-clicking on an .iso file and see if you have some new context menu entries like "burn iso file to disk" or something like that 07-10-17 17:41:47 __________________________________________________

morfeene2 ::: Favorites Actually - you're right - without a company behind it providing marketing and publicity, the people using it are inculcated into a cult - a technology cult where we worship technocracy. It's a real shame actually, because it is almost universally usable by the general public for most things 07-10-17 14:50:38 __________________________________________________
phaedress ::: Favorites LOL!! Both very good points! Lessee...what DID I mean? I meant that since there are no obvious costs, there must be some hidden one, like being inculcated into a cult. Religious people often give things away "for free" to lure people in. Still: point goes to morfeene. 07-10-17 14:40:15 __________________________________________________
morfeene2 ::: Favorites Does religion work? Are they free? - ha! ha! :-) ooooooh - I'm in for it now 07-10-17 14:32:54 __________________________________________________ |
