Description:

Ricky Hatton cemented his status as one of the most marketable fighters in boxing following his crushing fourth round win over Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas. The Manchester 'Hitman' will not be short of options in the 140lbs division and beyond but who is most likely to face the daunting prospect of sharing a ring with him next? FLOYD MAYWEATHER: Mayweather remains Hatton's number one priority with few taking his retirement announcement seriously. The manner of Hatton's win over Castillo will surely have caught the attention of the 'Pretty Boy'. CHANCES: Growing significantly. OSCAR DE LA HOYA: De La Hoya will only lace on the gloves again for super-fights and Hatton now fits the bill in that regard. However, the weight discrepancy between the pair will probably prove too great to bridge. CHANCES: Slim. PAULIE MALIGNAGGI: Brash New Yorker Malignaggi recently won the IBF 140lbs title and is the perfect man to help fulfil Hatton's ambition to headline at Madison Square Garden. As a stylish, courageous non-puncher, he would be made to measure. CHANCES: Excellent. JUNIOR WITTER: Hatton fancies the prospect of a triumphant homecoming after three fights in the US. His British rival Witter holds the WBC belt but Hatton is known to be unwilling to provide him with the best payday of his career. CHANCES: Fading. MIGUEL COTTO: Cotto has established himself as one of the hottest tickets around after his thrilling win over Zab Judah. A fight would be a major pay-per-view attraction but would also represent one of Hatton's biggest risks. CHANCES: Possible.

It took Cotto 11 rds to knock out Judah and that guys nothing more than a show-pony. Cotto can take a punch, but he has no power. Hatton has what none of these fairys have, intelligence. These other dickheads just swing like rusty gates and defend like the Iraqi army. Hatton beat one of the best welterweights in history with a plan, these other idiots try it with there mouths

I just don`t like Ricky Hatton being so fuckin nice.Even when he tries not to be nice he`s still being nice at it.That and his holding all the time i just don`t think he`s the real deal despite his last win.

I think Cotto has a better chance at beating Mayweather than Hatton. Mayweather will have a hard time with the pressing aggressive style Cotto has. He will be uncomfortable like he was against Baldomir but Cotto is stronger and faster than Baldomir.

chico and castillo could be in the hall of fame. but they wont be remembered by the fans. they are not chavez or de la hoya. as soon as they retire we wont here about them again.

a total joke, ayone with a grain of boxing knowledge would realise that mayweather is going to dominate and humiliate hatton in a one sided fight.

last 3 out of how many? my point is that he still has not fought a real opponent. castillo (even in his prime) was a nobody. that loss to chico (another nobody) is going to be the fight he is remembered for. there is no doubt in my mind that mayweather is going to win that fight.

i agree that mayweather will dominate the fight but if you think that Castillo and Chico in their prime are both nobodies... you're border line retarded. Both of them are Hall of Fame fighters with arguably the greatest fight ever in their first match up. Castillo was shot when Hatton beat him. Tszyu was past his prime and his corner stopped it due to a shoulder injury. I had Tszyu winning by 1 round though

castillo wasn´t shot man, hatton just landed the right punch at the right time. i´m a castillo fan and he doesn´t get going till about the fourth round.if you look at the fighte he was just getting started with the uppercuts.he´s been hit harder than that, but like i said, right punch at the right time.he should try a couple more fights,he wasn´t punished like he was against corrales,he still has a future.

Im a castillo fan also_ but the corrales fights caught up with him now. after that fight against herman ngojdou i knew castillo was shot. He looked very slow in the fight and wasnt throwing more than 2 punches at a time. i guarantee even if u put him in there with someone like Kendal Holt he will get smacked up

maybe. the ngojdou fight in retrospect could of been a sign or castillos downfall, but it also could of been a sign of castillos weight problems.sometimes a bad showing is just that,a bad showing.remember how bad holyfield was critizised for loosing the 3rd fight to bowe, well, he beat tyson a few years later.maybe castillo is shot,we´ll see.

why is england so proud of him? he has never faced a top fighter. he has a lot more to prove. everyone knows that the top boxers in the world are in the u.s.a. so why is he still fighting in england?

It would be so sad for England if cotto Knocks hatton out in front of 100,000 hooligans... That would be amazing, to hear tousands of people crying...hehe Hatton is a good fighter but he should avoid the fallowing: Cotto, Margarito-Williams, mallignaggi, judah, torres, quintana there is more but I forgot some names...
